Birchleaf v Eastern Ladies - Thursday 22nd May 2014

The South Wales weather threw everything at us today but it eased off just in time for Birchleaf to play match 3 of 3 this week. Eastern Ladies are new to the league this year but feature some very experienced players. Birchleaf had to play with 10 after last minute drop-outs but it was still a fairly even affair. Birchleaf won the toss and opted to field first, doing well to keep Eastern Ladies to 60 runs before all out. Birchleaf hit 53 in reply but the rain started to come down a lot heavier and with the pitch getting even more slippery both Captains and the Ref agreed to a rematch. Free sausage and chips at the local pub certainly softened the blow with the majority of the players getting together for a free meal and a couple of cokes. Rematch already arranged for Wednesday 4th June.
