Birchleaf v Fairwater Social B - Thursday 7th May 2015
After our first game of the season on Tuesday was rained off, tonights game became the season opener at home. Fairwater fielded an inexperienced side with depleted numbers, 9 players making the opposing side. However, both teams gave a good account of themselves, with Birchleaf gaining an innings win thanks to a strong team performance from a full bench. Fairwater batted first, scoring 21, respectable considering some players had never lifted a bat! Birchleaf batted over 60 before declaring to give Fairwater another chance on the bat, great experience for novice players. Fairwater scored 14 all out in their 2nd innings, handing an innings win to Birchleaf. One game, one win. Thats how we like it! Great to get the 2 points to start the season and also great to see the team resplendent in brand new kit!
