Tonight saw Division 1's Rumney Ladies play at home to Division 2 Birchleaf, but it wasnt the walkover most people probably expected! Birchleaf won the toss and chose to field first, keeping Rumney Ladies to 79 runs before knocking 60 themselves. With just 19 runs in it there was still all to play for in the second innings. Rumney knocked 86 this time, with Birchleaf unable to prevent the last few sticking in. Birchleaf remained calm and knocked a very respectable 71 to hand Rumney the win, but not by the margin alot of people expected! A great team performance and very promising for the next Cup Game this Thursday against Malpas in the Divisional Cup.
The game was expertly and fairly refereed by Anita James of Eastern Ladies.
