After a great performance against a higher division team on Tuesday, Birchleaf were hungry to continue their good form against Malpas in the Divisional Cup. Malpas have had the better of Birchleaf in both games in the league this season but Birchleaf put that to one side and stayed confident. After winning the toss, Birchleaf opted to field first, keeping Malpas down to 27 runs with some great quality fielding. Birchleaf kept their heads on the bat to knock a very respectable 61. Anything can happen in the second innings but Birchleaf remained calm and fielded well again leaving themselves needing only 8 in their second turn on the bat, which was easily achieved with 8 players left and without having to complete the first round of batting. Tonights win sends Birchleaf into the Divisional Cup Semi-Final and therefore playing at home to St Peters B on Thursday 10th July for a place in the final.
Top Bat : Leigh Hobby (15)
